Kongu UK is a registered non-profit organisation in UK, connecting all Kongu people.

Kongu Naadu also known by various names like Kongu Mandalam and Kongu belt is located in western Tamilnadu. In ancient days Kongu Naadu was ruled by Chera, Chola and Pandiya Kings and the geographical area consists of Western Tamilnadu, South Eastern Karnataka and Eastern Kerala. Kongu Naadu includes present-day districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Nilgiris, Dindigul and Tiruppur.
Kongu Naadu was one of the earliest and separate territorial divisions and homes of the ancient Tamil people. Kongu Tamil is the dialect of Tamil Language that is spoken in Kongu Naadu. The people living in and around this region who speak Kongu Tamil are the heart and soul of Kongu Naadu. Kongu Mandalam got a different culture in Food and tradition compared to other regions of Tamilnadu which is the pride of this region.

ORIGIN

UK KONGU NANBARGAL ORGANISATION LIMITED was founded by a team of interested and enthusiastic people in 2015 to provide a platform for all Kongu families living in the UK and are widely spread all over the UK, to get together, network, stay connected and support each other. After the grand success of the first Kongu Kudumba Vizhaa in 2016, UK Kongu conducted the Kongu Kudumba Vizhaa in the following years with the chief guests coming from India / worldwide. To take it forward to the next level in the right direction and for better governance, an organization structure was established in June 2017. UK Kongu Board President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and Board members were nominated.
UK Kongu has served and supported the people in the UK and back home as well in many ways. Our major projects in India include the Kanchikovil School auditorium, Perugavazhnthan School renovation, and Perundurai Covid Hospital in Tamilnadu. Projects in the UK were donations to Alzheimer's Research institute by having a charity run, and a Blood Donation camp conducted during one of our events. We have also donated food to NHS during peak COVID times.
